“Amaran” earns praise as a powerful tribute to a Real Hero.
The recently released film starrs Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi as main cast and it has also received widespread acclaim at the box office. Movie enthusiasts have hailed it as an appropriate tribute to the legacy of Major “Mukund Varadarajan“, a brave-heart of the Indian Army.
Directed by Rajkumar, the film is one of the most highly anticipated OTT releases for December 2024, with its premiere scheduled on Netflix for December 5.
Box Office Success
Amaran continues its successful theatrical run, outperforming competitors like Suriya’s Kanguva and Dulquer Salmaan’s Lucky Bhaskar. According to trade tracker Sacnilk, the film has amassed ₹211.70 crore at the domestic box office by the end of its fourth Thursday. In comparison, Kanguva managed to collect only ₹69.10 crore in its first 15 days, while Lucky Bhaskar earned ₹72.68 crore in 29 days.
OTT Release Details.
As per the producers’ strategic plan, the film is set to premiere on Netflix five weeks after its theatrical release. Despite its OTT announcement, the film is still drawing audiences to theaters and is still reflecting its strong appeal.
A Story Rooted in True Heroism
As narrated through the perspective of his wife, Sindhu Rebecca Varghese, the film is based on the true story of Major “Mukund Varadarajan”. The movie took inspiration from the book by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh, “India’s Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military Heroes”. As commander of the Indian Army’s Rashtriya Rifles, Major Mukund was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra (India’s highest peacetime military honor) for his exceptional bravery during an anti-terror operation performed in Jammu and Kashmir in 2014.
The official citation proves Major Mukund’s exceptional leadership, courage, and quick action that led to the elimination of three top Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists, despite losing his life in the process. He was the fourth recipient of the Ashoka Chakra from Tamil Nadu.Stellar Performances and Production Value.
