“Jasprit Bumrah Reclaims No. 1 ICC Test Bowler Rank After Perth Heroics”

Jasprit Bumrah Returns as the No. 1 Test Bowler After Perth Heroics

Jasprit Bumrah

India’s ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah has reclaimed the No. 1 spot in the ICC Test Bowling Rankings. Following his remarkable performance against Australia in the Perth Test, where he claimed 8 wickets for 72 runs, Bumrah achieved his career-best rating of 883 points. Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored 161 runs in the second innings of the same match, climbed to a career-high No. 2 in the ICC Test Batting Rankings.

Jasprit Bumrah’s Dominance in Perth

In the first innings, Bumrah delivered a masterclass, taking 5 wickets for just 30 runs and restricting Australia to a mere 104. This performance helped him overtake South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada and Australia’s Josh Hazlewood in the rankings. Bumrah had previously reached the No. 1 spot in February after taking nine wickets against England at home and briefly returned to the top after the Bangladesh series in October. However, Rabada had surpassed him in recent weeks until this stunning comeback.

Bumrah’s teammate Mohammad Siraj, who also impressed with a five-wicket haul in the match, climbed three places to secure the 25th spot in the bowling rankings.

Jaiswal’s stellar knock of 161 in the second innings propelled him past New Zealand’s Kane Williamson and England’s Harry Brook. He now holds a career-best rating of 825 points, trailing top-ranked Joe Root by 78 points.

Other Performances and Ranking Updates

Australia’s Travis Head moved up three places to 10th after scoring 89 in the second innings of the Perth Test. India’s Virat Kohli, who scored his 30th Test century, made significant progress, climbing nine places to the 13th spot in the batting rankings.

Meanwhile, the West Indies pace trio of Jayden Seales, Kemar Roach, and Alzarri Joseph made notable gains in the rankings after their performances in the Antigua Test against Bangladesh. Seales took 5 wickets for 87 runs, Roach picked up 4 for 50, and Joseph claimed 5 for 101, helping the West Indies secure a 201-run victory. Seales rose three places to 11th, Roach moved up four places to 17th, and Joseph climbed three spots to 29th.

All-rounders Update

Bangladesh skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz moved up three spots to No. 3 in the ICC Test All-rounders Rankings after contributing with both bat (23 and 45 runs) and ball (4 wickets for 130 runs) in the Antigua Test. Despite not featuring in the Perth Test, India’s Ravindra Jadeja and R. Ashwin retained their top two spots in the all-rounders’ rankings.
